PROFESSIONAL & RELEVANT TRAINING COURSES FOR RADIO

Duration: 2 hours

Outline:
Your voice on the radio. In just 2 hours you will be heard by an audience of up to 1.5 million Londoners, doing all the things experienced radio DJs do to a professional standard.

You will get a CD of your sample show which you can use as a show reel for job interviews or keep it as a record of the day your voice could be heard on a London FM radio station. 

What happens on the day? You will be allocated a professional DJ who will show you all the tricks of the trade, how to make the technology really work for you, how to give an electrifying performance that holds your audience spellbound from start to finish.

Itinerary: You need to bring with you a small selection of music Come in comfortable clothes - studio conditions can be hot so layers are best.

Report to reception at 9.45am, quoting ‘OnFM Radio course’

  •  You will be met at reception and escorted to the studio for a 10.00am start.
  • Course structure:
  • Practical DJing– using the equipment
  • Music selection
  • Microphone techniques
  • Broadcasting live on air

Certification: You will receive a certificate recording the skills you have developed that day.

A real experience of professional radio

Duration: 2 hours

Outline: Your voice on the radio. In just 2 hours you will be heard by an audience of up to 1.5 million Londoners, doing all the things experienced radio presenters do to a professional standard.

You will get a CD of your sample show which you can use as a show reel for job interviews or keep it as a record of the day your voice could be heard on a London FM radio station.

What happens on the day? You will be taught as a group and in pairs, role playing the interview techniques you have been taught. At the end of the course you will conduct an interview for broadcast on radio to a potential audience of 1.5 million people.

What to expect on the day: Come in comfortable clothes - studio conditions can be hot so layers are best. This is a highly focused course in which students produce interviews for broadcast on radio.

Under the tuition of a BBC trained broadcaster you are taught how to put an interviewee at ease, how to shape interview and how to deliver it in a style which will enhance the content of the interview.

Course Trainer: Nicola McHugh has worked a radio producer and presenter for the BBC on all its national networks. A major feature writer for The Observer and The Daily Mirror, Nicola has also produced discussion series and breakfast shows for commercial television. During her time as director of Media Training for Granada Television and for Bradford College, she devised radio training courses for students who later progressed to key positions in the media.
